Like millions of other Americans, Mark and I have been anxiously awaiting the final season of Lost. We both had a very trying day, but finished all of our responsibilities and settled in front of the Jumbotron to see what the producers had in store for us.

If you have this sitting on the TiVO and haven’t seen it yet, STOP HERE. Spoilers ahead.

Last season left us with someone masquerading as Locke and convincing Ben to kill Jacob, Sayid near death, and Jack and the other attempting to detonate the hydrogen bomb in an effort to make the plane crash never happen. In the opening, the bomb goes off, and Juliet dies. We see everyone on the plane experiencing major turbulence, but the plane does land in Los Angeles, and Jack’s father’s coffin is missing from the flight. However, everyone from the 2nd plane crash as well as the survivors, are still on the island. Very odd. The person masquerading as Locke becomes the smoke monster. Stranger and stranger. A dead Jacob appears to Hugo, and tells him he must take Sayid to the temple and that Jin can show him the way. Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hugo, Jin and Sayid make it to the temple and run into a new group of settlers on the island, and the stewardess from their flight is amongst them. Hugo gives them the guitar case he had been given by Jacob in Season 5, and inside there is a note that the people say instructs them to save Sayid or doom will come upon them. They take Sayid to a spring, and proceed to drown and kill him. The fake Locke shows up on the beach with the survivors of the 2nd crash, is recognized by Richard for whoever he really is, and then Richard is knocked out and taken away by the Mystery Locke.

Hopefully you saw it, because here’s what Mark and I came up with at the end. We’re pretty sure that the person masquerading as Locke is the guy who was in the beach scene with Jacob as they sat near the statue staring out at the sailing ship on the ocean. This guy appears to be less than pleased with Jacob’s games with outsiders and he actually wants to leave the island himself, but for some reason, Jacob is preventing this. When Jacob visits each member of the Oceanic 6, we think he knows he’s going to be killed on the island. We think the note inside the guitar case told the settlers to kill Syaid in the temple, so that Jacob could use his body as a vessel to return from the afterlife. That’s right, we thing Sayid is now Jacob. Since Locke was dead and his body was brought back to the island, we think Jacob’s nemesis was able to take the form of Locke, just as Jacob is doing with Sayid. Since Richard is very old and knows the identity of the Locke imposter, he is captured and we think will be used as leverage against Jacob somehow. As far as the survivors, we haven’t figured that out yet, because they are in two places at once. We didn’t even try to speculate on the alternate universes or time warps.

The reason for all of this above, is so if it turns out to be true, I can say I was RIGHT. You know me. :P

What do you think is happening, or is going to happen? I can’t wait until next week!
