These days I love the weekends so much more. It is the time that I am guaranteed to sleep more than five or six hours. It helped that we had the beautiful rain make a reappearance in Vegas last night. Rumor is, it will continue through the next couple of days.

I am spending this morning getting caught up on homework in my “Math for Poets” class. I still am confused on why I have to take it in the first place. It’s one of those classes that is a prerequisite to many high-level business classes, and it makes online registration a bear if you don’t have it. Even after my adviser looked at my transcripts and remarked, “Wow. I didn’t even know math went this high,” they said I still have to take it. Luckily, I am able to take it online and the professor is leaving it as independent study without due dates and at your own pace. Bri sat with me last night and went over the five chapters I have to cover, and said, “Whoa Mom, I did that stuff in the 7th and 8th grades.” Oh well, at least I should be able to bang it all out this morning.

Mark has joined a softball league and this afternoon is his first practice with his team at the batting cages. Bri and I have decided to head down there and watch for a couple of hours to make fun cheer him on in his first softball outing in over ten years. I, of course, won’t go near any bats, gloves or balls if not seated behind a fence. It’s funny how after having a baseball line driven into your face and breaking your cheekbone, you tend to pass on future participation. I am excited for him, though, and we’ll try to squeak in as many of his games as we can. Schedule permitting.

The big thing that is happening this evening, is that Bri is meeting her boyfriend’s parents tonight. They invited her to dinner, and she is really nervous about it. Then, she found out last night, that it’s not just going to be his parents, but a large group of other family members and friends. She is fairly intimidated. Mark and I gave her the typical, “Dress conservative. Don’t eat with your fingers under any circumstances, and just mind your manners.” Since it’s a crowd she is walking into, we even offered to eat at the same restaurant at a separate table, to give her some support. You know, if she gets freaked out, she can come over and sit with us for a breather. She thanked us, but said she would be fine, and it was unnecessary. I’m sure everything is going to be cool. I’ve already met his parents, and this boy is crazy about her. They will be, too.

So what is everyone else up to, this weekend? Anyone stuck in the blizzard on the East Coast?
